Playing Catch Up

This has been a wonderful and busy Christmas season. I hope that you have enjoyed family, friends and good food as we have. I'm sure that I am leaving out some of my projects from the past month, but I've lost track. From what I can remember since November I've made around 20 placemat purses, 8 totes, 4 draw string backpacks, embroidered names on 6 throws, one baby set... and the list goes on and on. Thank you to all that have trusted me in creating that perfect gift. This is something that I love and hope that you love the finished product. I am looking forward to a great 2008 and wish you a very happy New Year!

My Favorite Color Is Light Tan

OK, my favorite color isn't really light tan... but I couldn't help but include a Nacho quote. I don't claim to take great pictures and this one proves it, but I loved this bag and wanted to include it in the blog. It's hard to tell but the leaf embroidery goes along both sides as well as across the top and it has tiny pearls places throughout the embroidery. I used bamboo and rope handles tied, of course, with ribbon bows.

Classic Black

This purse uses a black ribbed placemat, black with white polk a dot ribbon and a black wood handle.

Corduroy!

Yep, it's a corduroy placemat purse. I used dark brown wood handles with inlaid beading and brown ribbon bows to add a bit a pizazz. Most purses measure 7.5" H x 13 x W x 3" deep.

Everyone Needs a Little Bling

For this purse I used the faux suede placemat and added some fringe and dark brown bamboo handles.

Brown and Blue Placemat Purse

Front and Back view of this cute blue and brown placemat purse. I used dark brown wood handles tied with brown ribbon knots.

Hot Pink & Black Placemat Purse

Dandy Damask

I loved this fabric by Michael Miller called Dandy Damask. This tote is very roomy and has lots of pockets for storage.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

This full sized tote will make the perfect diaper bag. I used navy and red corduroy for the outside with red corduroy pockets over a cute baseball print lining.

Pink Paisley Mini-Tote

I must be in a paisley mood. All my new favorite bags have paisley in them. This is about half the size of the regular tote with all the great features of the original. It is fully lined in the paisley fabric with 6 pink pockets that wrap around the inside.

Ladybug Burpcloth

Who ever said that Ladybugs couldn't be green?

Snuggly Airplane Set

What a fun set for a little boy and perfect for winter with it's super soft and snuggly back.

More Shabby Chic

I loved the way the embroidery turned out on this blanket. I used a pink striped chenille on the back for lots of texture and for the ultimate vintage look.

It's a Jungle Out There

This baby blue and green blanket is sure to be one of Oliver's favorites. The baby jungle animal flannel paired with the super soft and fluffy pail green will be perfect on cold winter nights (if it ever gets cold!!).

Giddy Up Rory

Shown: Bib, Burp Cloth, Blanket, Onsie, & Ribbon Security Blanket. The bib, blanket, and ribbon security blanket have a super soft and fluffy fabric back.

Suede Placemat Purse

Ok... so it is a faux suede, but it looks like leather. I think that it is microfiber. Who would guess that it was a placemat in its former life. I made this style a bit different by not making pleats in the bottom. So it is more of an envelope style.

Taira Bag

I can't help but love the classic look of black and khaki. Be careful Taira... you may have to leave your Coach behind after you see this!

Tooth Fairy Pillow

We just discovered that my oldest has his first loose tooth. I'm sure we have a while before it actually falls out... but a Mom has to be prepared. This pillow is approx. 8" x 8" and is the prefect size to hang on the bed post when the big night arrives. The red square is a pocket to keep his tooth safe until the Tooth Fairy comes to leave her surprise.

Shabby Chic in Sage

One of the reasons that I love sewing for other people is that I get to experiment with colors that I wouldn't normally pick. The sage chenille on the back of the bib, blanket and bottom of the bag is such a soothing color. Pink and sage are the perfect combination for a little girl.

Placemat Purse

Believe it or not these adorable purses are made from an ordinary place mat. A friend recently showed me a purse made from a place mat and now I am a bit addicted. I will never look at a place mat the same! You may ask what are the benefits of using a place mat.... Well they are sturdy, have a great texture and the edges are all finished so the inside looks nice and clean! There is no need for a lining. The first purse is a red ribbed place mat with black acrylic handles. The handles are attached with black grosgrain ribbon that is tied in a bow on both sides. The second is a teal ribbed place mat with brown and teal flower grosgrain ribbon. The ribbon was also used as the handles. The bag measures 13.5" wide x 7.5" tall x 3" deep. These would also make a great Church scripture tote!

Connor Bag #2 with Diaper Clutch

Who knew that green and brown paisley could look so cute with denim! This set also includes a diaper clutch. The diaper clutch is the perfect size for a travel size wipe container and 3 or 4 diapers. It's great for keeping your diaper bag organized or to grab for a quick trip. It measures approx. 7 1/2" x 11". Both bags are fully lined. The diaper bag measures approx. 13" x 16 1/2".

Pilot Jack

The Jack Bag is made from a navy corduroy paired with a cute airplane novelty print. I loved working with the corduroy. It added richness and depth to this bag. For the lining I used the same airplane print with 6 corduroy pockets.

Kamarie Bag

I really can't make these bags fast enough to keep up with demand! All the pink and brown bags I've made in the past have had the pink on the bottom of the bag and the brown on top. By changing the fabric around and selecting a striped ribbon it has created a completely new look! The lining is brown with 6 roomy pink pockets.

Burp Cloths

These cloth diapers turned burp clothes are a fun, simple and unique gift. Cloth diapers are the perfect burp cloth because they are super absorbent and the perfect size. By adding your little one's name or your favorite saying and ribbon it will be actually something that you don't mind to use! The possibilities are endless as I have many ribbons and fonts to make your burp cloth one of a kind.

Pretty in Pink II

What can I say... I love the pink and brown. Adding the bag to this set makes the prefect gift.
Shown: blanket, bib and tote bag. The blanket and bib use a pink striped chenille back. The pockets on the inside of the bag were made from the same fabric as the bib and lined in brown to tie it all together.

Yee Ha

Yee Ha! These fun cowboy diaper bags use a "Willow Bend" bandana print that is very versatile. It looks great with the denim and the khaki. The lining uses the bandana print and had 6 roomy pockets. I also used the bandana fabric with a cream striped chenille to make a coordinating blanket.

Barnyard Baby

Denim, Red and a pudgy horse make the cutest set. The diaper bag's lining is red with six roomy pockets in denim. The ribbon is red, blue and white plaid. The bib and blanket have a super soft and fluffy back with a texture babies love. What a lucky baby!

Shabby Chic 2

This blanked was assembled like Shabby Chic 1- but I used fabrics with rose and peach tones instead of pink. I also used the cream chenille for the back. The bib added a nice touch to the set. The fabrics in this set reminded me of something you would find in your Grandmother's linen closet when you were a child.
